What is point in not allowing it? its not going to hurt us hetrosexuals, its not like they will suddenly ban straight marriages, the two dont cancel each other out

The idea that someone can get married by Elvis, in 15 minutes, drunk - does a lot more to hurt the sanctity of 'traditional' marriage than letting people who actually love each other do it.

First of all.... ENOUGH CHILDREN!!!! Take your stupid and petty arguments to private messages. The rest of us don't really care that you're morons.

Now, to the topic at hand. I find it funny that most arguments against gay marriage are religious in nature, and mostly Christian. If you want marriage to be a strictly religious thing, then so be it. I've met plenty of Pagan clergy that would be happy to perform same sex weddings.

Seriously, Christians really need to extract their heads from their asses. Against God? The US is no longer a Christian nation. Atheism and Paganism are on the rise. I am a gay Pagan, and proud of it! Though, if you made marriage a religious thing, then I guess Atheists will be SOL.

Also, as it stands, one must obtain a state marriage license, and there are benefits. It's a state thing. Religion has no part of it, nor should it in my opinion. Like I said, if a gay couple wants to be married, and wants a clergy member, there are plenty of Pagan clergy members willing to do it. Then there is the option of a judge or ship captain. This means there is no reason for clergy that are opposed to it being forced to. There goes that argument...

If you're straight, then don't marry a person of the same sex. It's that simple. If gay marriage is made nationally legal, your bigoted little lives will go on as normal. It's not going to be forced on anyone. Straight people will still be allowed to marry other straight people. All that fear-mongering over Prop 8 was complete bullshit.

You want to argue natural? Cutting me open and removing my gallbladder wasn't natural, but I'm sure glad it was done. Cancer is a naturally occurring disease. Does that mean we should let it run its course? Should we let all diseases alone because they are natural, and modern medicine is not? Interesting thought there. Let's just get rid of anything that isn't natural. No more modern medicine, no more food preservatives, no more farming or agriculture of any kind, no more cars and trains and planes, no more electricity, no more indoor plumbing... Get where I'm going with this?

Actually, if you can find a Satanic Priest that performs marriages (not many do I believe), he or she would be happy to perform a ceremony for a same-sex couple. We don't have the hang up about it either. *nod*
