Admittedly, no, I haven't. That's just what I've observed from foreigners that I've come across on this site.

So now you're basing your view of every single non-American on maybe 100 people you've met on the internet.

Also, if you care to read your post again, I think you'd see the irony in it.

Maybe not, we're not all bad you like try and make us out to be. You know, saying we're all fat, nasty, rude, etc.

Those are the stereotypes. You don't have to take personal offense to them, because they are basically an answer to the OP.

Brits have their own stereotypes - we're rude to foreigners, and rather than explain or try to speak their language, we just say the same thing again, but louder.

And you know what? I know where that stereotype comes from - I've been on holiday where some of THOSE Brits were, and they make us all look bad.

And that's what informs the stereotype others hold.

I understand that, I'm a proud Scot, too, but one thing that I do find positive is the ability we Scots have to laugh at ourselves.

Ask almost any expatriated Scot about Scotland and the answer you'll usually get will be negative, short, and rude. Whenever I give this impression everyone seems so surprised and I don't understand why, it's the truth.

If only nations could laugh at their flaws, maybe the world would be a better place to live in.

Acctually the first were the aboriginals that you complelty holocausted by killing almost thier intire population because they supported birtain in battles and the spanish when you expanded westward. But of course you'll forget. Also if it weren't for the british then america wouldn't of existed. That and the fact your "founding fathers" (Irony sets in during the next line)

Believe me, I'm not one to criticize foreigners. Not all the people in one nation are the same. That's a stupid thing to think. It's like saying that all Irishmen are drunks. They're not all the same and they're certainly not all drunks. It just gets on my nerve when people try and somehow say all Americans are bad. It's a stupid thing to try and say. Most of them probably haven't even been to America.

[ I dedicate this to you. Enjoy, you have earned it ]

I haven't said to 'change' your name
I have no problem with the whole 'United States of America' name.
Hell, our official name is United Mexican States, modeled from the United States themselves (we felt patriotic, and what other 'Mega-Ultra patriotic nation existed to expel such thing enough to drown dozens of chickens in a bucket? Of course! The US! And since our Nation was mean to be as great. . . )

The problem comes from calling yourselves America.
You are the United States OF America
You are not America, you are FROM
Therefore, your country name is United States.
Your Denomination is 'United Statetian' or 'US' or 'Statetian' or some crap like that.

Going around the world saying you're American will be easy to recognize, but people will shake their heads, roll their eyes and think exactly what I'm thinking as I rant you this.

"You"
No US-Americans (I'm using that term to appease the anal-retentive users) alive today were responsible for the government's actions hundreds of years ago. Also, if you're from the Americas or Europe, it's quite ironic for you to use the word "holocaust". Of course, we still shouldn't judge people just for being born somewhere.
