USA & The Metric System

I find myself wondering, why the hell is the U.S. not on the Metric system? The system itself is clearly superior to the U.S. Customary units system. So why the hell can't we just switch over to it like the rest of the world already has?

The only other countries not on the Metric system are Liberia and Burma - Third World Countries.


Why are we not on it yet, and would anybody else here be in favor of making the complete conversion?

It's been slowly happening over the years, but some things are reluctant to change.

I fully support a complete changeover. The metric system makes a hell of a lot more sense.

I use both systems and I can convert between them in my head.

The customary system does make more sense for causal conversation as it was based off of the human body as a gauge.
The metric system is easier to do math with.

It would make the USA less backwards, and thus would hurt the image in which they've invested so much. So, you can see how I am ambivalent.

It doesn't make much sense to have 1:12, 1:3, 1:1700ish imo. But I guess it's up to you guys and if you want to be special go ahead. But why not use the metric-system that comes from the nation that those who inspired you to write your beloved constitution rather then use a system that pretty much comes from, if I am not incorrect, those bastards who wanted to force you to pay taxes without representation.

edit: Oh, and I guess they can introduce it to scam alot of americans that the gasprizes have been lowered.

For the rest, USA is ok. I wouldn't live there
