I think that you probably are treated differently for it. After all, people are people and don't always like differences.

You mean persecuted.

I can't say I've felt especially persecuted, as an atheist.

Yes, atheists get shit for it, as do Muslims and Jews and even Christians.

1) Where do you live?

2) In what ways do you feel that you are being treated differently?

I doubt you are overly persecuted, honestly.

I am almost 100% certain that you are in no way prosecuted. Or are you saying you are in jail awaiting your trial for atheism? If so, where do you live?

I guess it really depends on where you live. I never am persecuted for being an Atheist here, I see more Christians who are hated than atheists.

Sometimes I tackle atheists for no reason. I also tackle buddhists, christians, pagans, hindus, scientologists and once, a zoroastrian. I think atheists are the easiest to surprise because they aren't typically on the lookout for people they can't see. ;)

Trying to "save you" as you put it is actually very likely a sign of concern. I fucking hate it when bastards show concern for me! Seriously though, though I myself am not a proselytizer, you should look at their motivations, there are plenty of good ways to deflect such conversations.

No matter where you are, or who you are, some people will always talk down to you, and treat you as stupid for what you believe.

Additionally, few parents don't suggest improvements for their children.

This doesn't sound like that especial of a case.

I get it.

It's a joke. No need to applaud my keenness, it's natural.

Well, on the tram some weeks ago an old lady started ranting against non-Catholics. As atheist, I felt treated equally. Equally to any other non-Catholic. :p

Be thankful that you're not an agnostic like me. We get it from both sides lol

Christians:"Believe in the Bible or you will go to Hell!"

Atheists: "No no no! Don't listen to all that old crap, there is no Hell and no God!"

To be honest, I lean more toward the atheist side than the Christians because they don't pressure me or threaten that I'm going to some firey doom when I snuff it.

But seriously, no. I don't get atheists knocking on my door and shoving pamphlets into my hand or bleating at me on a Sunday morning when I turn on my TV. I feel more persecuted by Christians who are trying to convert me all the time, when I really don't believe them at all.

I am sort of an agnostic. I don't believe in anything really, unless there is concrete proof, and that includes the non existance of a diety as much as the existance. You should see the amount of feaces I have to duck from the religious and atheists. The god botherers tell me I'm an Atheist, the atheists tell me I bother god. Atheists esspecially hate the fact that my view is more scientific than their belief, and the fact that Atheism is a belief system, cos you can't prove it!
