Contained a quote from Karl Marx completely out of context and portrayed as something it wasn't. I brought my copy of the Communist Manifesto to show that it was taken out of context.

Essentially they tried to make it seem more violent and dictatorial than it was. How typical of a textbook.
Also, my science books in Elementary said two stupid things:
1. That blood was blue until it picked up oxygen.
2. That the tongue was divided in to sections of tastes or whatever nonsense it was.

Huh. Really?
Not that I know of. Mostly the support for the American Revolution. I mostly attribute that to a tax rebellion.

To say the truth, I don't take history textbooks that seriously, many times, history seems very objective at times.

Anything about Columbus. Most of the sections about Scandinavia. The Crusades were only in the Middle East according to one textbook I had. That one was genius...

1. That the US had any real motive to invade Spanish territory in the Spanish-American war, other than a bunch of total bullshit being fed to the public by two "newsmen" working to out-lie each other.
2. That the taxes levied on the colonies by the British Crown were "unfair," or "disproportionate." Also that the American colonies were "denied" adequate representation in parliament.

1. The Wright brothers completed the first controlled flight (Count Von Zeppelin invented his airships years earlier)

2. America had never lost any land to a invader

Because they are socialist. None of them are classless, stateless or have removed wage labour. There are no communist nations in the world.

In chapter two of our history book we learned that Leiv Eriksson was the first person from Europe to discover America and settling in America, ca year 1 000. In chapter ten or so we learned that Christopher Colombus was the first man to discover America in 1492.

'Fraid not:

Hemoglobin is the principal determinant of the color of blood in vertebrates. Each molecule has four heme groups, and their interaction with various molecules alters the exact color. In vertebrates and other hemoglobin-using creatures, arterial blood and capillary blood are bright red, as oxygen imparts a strong red color to the heme group. Deoxygenated blood is a darker shade of red; this is present in veins, and can be seen during blood donation and when venous blood samples are taken.

The tongue map or taste map is a common misconception that different sections of the tongue are exclusively responsible for different basic tastes. It is illustrated with a schematic map of the tongue, with certain parts of the tongue labeled for each taste. Although widely taught in public schools, this was scientifically disproven by later research; all taste sensations come from all regions of the tongue.

1. It probably didn't say that, it just showed that on the diagrams, which is a valid representation, and used everywhere.
2. I've heard both cases to this. From what I understand, some areas of the tongue are more adept at tasting certain 'flavours', but what we experience as taste is also linked to smell. (Which is why some smells are so strong that you can 'taste' them...)

Personally, I don't think I can remember any outright howlers, although, obviously, many of the sciences teach 'lies to children' that are gradually abolished as you move up the chain.

China: No. "Asian" Capitalist
Cuba: Socialist
Laos: No. "Asian" Capitalist
North Korea: No. Permanent war economy with socialistic elements.
Vietnam: No. "Asian" Capitalist.

Asian capitalism (sometimes "Asian Values") is essentially capitalism with a authoritarian political structure which usually presents itself as paternalistic, and is either an explicitly a single party system, or a very limited multi-party system (often with an overwhelmingly dominant party), with symbiotic links between political institutions and a handful or large corporate structures (sometimes family controlled) which dominate the economy. Along with those above other countries like South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and, to a somewhat lesser degree, Japan and Malaysia also fit this description.
