Under 18

Postby Kalaspia-Shimarata » Sun Jun 12, 2011 4:05 am

I am sick of being under 18 years old. I don't like going to the club with my parents as I am very restricted just because of my age. There are many places I am not allowed because of my age (e.g. I am not allowed into the poker machine area, even though I have no intension of gambling). I am also too afraid to go up to the bar where they serve alcohol to get some free water from the tap incase they ask me for ID proving that I am over 18 when I am not. I am sick of being so bloody restricted for being under 18! Sometimes I am in a part of the club, WITH MY PARENTS and I am forced to move because I am under 18. It's ridiculous! My sister, who is also under the age of 18 wanted to dance in an area, with A LEGAL ADULT but she wasn't allowed to! I am sick, sick to death of these bloody restrictions. And the list goes on... So, I am asking you NSG, are the restrictions placed for people under the age of 18 in Australia pushed too far?

Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

Obviously, the discussion can be entered even if you aren't in NSW.

Otherwise it's a fairly minuscule discussion base.

But yeah, certain rules are sort of boneheaded, like the ones about not being able to get water and non-alcoholics from bars.

Well, shit in the Netherlands is far more lenient. But of course, the Netherlands is like the RL version of a civil rights lovefest.

Over here, it's not that you get kicked out of a bar because you're under 16 and are too young to drink alcohol. You can just enter a bar (with our without your parents) to just drink some water or cola, or whatever.

I have done that once, though it wasn't really a bar, more a place to sell alcohol and other drinks

There is only ONE club that allows me in and that is because it is the ONLY access to the area where you can go when you are under 18. If you weren't allowed in said area, I am sure you would not be allowed in!

All I can say is that it's very handy to grow up in a small country where everyone knows everyone and you can get a non-alcoholic drink from the bar, even if you're under 18 :p.

Your too ignorant to have that as your national flag! It's not even close to true that everyone knows everyone! I have never heard of anything so ignorant. Also, if you are under 18, you are NOT allowed to get ANYTHING from the bar. FULL STOP!

Not only in the Netherlands. Here, in Poland, we have the same (or even more lenient) situation.

Sorry, that should have read "small country town". And no, I can tell you from personal experience that there are some places where you can buy non-alcoholic drinks from the bar. You just have to be in a small country town where everyone knows you.

I never go to a bar or a place like that before (because it's rare here and I don't like alcohol), but I think it's far too much. Are there any restrictions like that in movie theaters too, like we can't watch a movie just because we're under 18?

Anyone can play nation states. And under 18 wasn't probably the best name to choose

I don't think there are many R-rated movies here in Australia, but when one does occasionally come along, then yes! There are also certain movie theators that don't allow "minors"

Ahahahahahahaha I live in Serbia,I am now 18,but my life was the same when I was under 18...
I could go to bars, drink alcohol in public(bar, restaurant, club etc...),because it is allowed to,I was wasted of alcohol for the first time when I was 14,it's very common here in Serbia...
But sometimes that is very bad, believe me,even though I am 18 now, there isn't anything more scarier than to see 13-15 year olds getting wasted by alcohol or smoking cigarettes,it's just not right...
And you are living in Australia, believe me it's for your own good that you aren't allowed to do some things, after all,it isn't that bad as it looks, you ll have 18 one day...This just shows that your country cares for you,do you think it wouldn't be better if country could earn more from selling tobacco and alcohol?
