Um, its a historical nessecity. Maybe if they haden't put him on trial, they could have suffled him under a rug, but the Romans had a complex legal system. All major trials where recorded, and hence the trial of Jesus was too. Granted, I can't site a specific place to find that specific trial (probebly because its in a museum somewhere, or lost, and I don't have all day), but I DO know the Romans kept records of their trials. So, at some point at least, they had a record of it.
And I understand the Bible can be a decent historical chart, but concidering the various supernatural causes it attributes to events, we should take the accuracy with a grade of salt, espcially since we don't even have the whole thing anymore (Thank the Church, they coulden't even trust their own book)
So you don't have a source... You just have an assumption.
