I am not that sure. Basically you can separate them in 2 sides: One is saying he's doing a good job, the other is explaining that he's a bad president.

And you can't ignore them: sometimes 30% of the first page is loaded with Obama threads.

But if you can't beat them, join them. *laughs sinisterly*

It's not a matter of clicking, mostly I don't.

But if you like or not, you have to scan all those topic titles. In that way you can't ignore it.

It's not fun to browse through the endless list of Obama threads, which are more or less dealing the same stuff.

I dislike them.

Mostly due to the rampant lack of research that people do.

A. The list isn't endless.
B. You scan, you see "Obama", you skip. How long does that really take? One second? Two?

You're making a mountain out of an amoeba here.

Fixed. I use Wiki regularly. It's an excellent starting point, but not a good source if it's the only one you use.

Now while I realise that the whole 'just ignore them' crowd has a point, when it gets to the level where there are so many that they're crowding out many other threads and taking up a significant space on the first page... then there's a problem. Now the chances of this thread actually fixing this problem are.... oh, lets say about nil. Unless we get some of the mods on our side. Anyone here got experience at chatting up mods?

As for Hairless Kitten's avatar, I agree that this needs a vote. I'd say it isn't that attractive, but thats probably just my thing against blonds. :p

If you want to do a brain surgery or send a man to the moon, wiki alone will not work. But on this forum, wiki will do the trick. This is not a courtroom or a science lab.

And probably you know that wiki isn't that bad, other (commercial) encyclopaedias contain mistakes as well.

Should the mods create a separate Obama section?

I don’t mind talking about Obama, but too much is du trop and du trop is too much.

you haven't been around long... have you?

we've had Zillions of Religion threads (especially after yet another church scandal)
we've had Zillions of 'Republicans are ebil" threads (especially after another Repubican gets caught with his pants down.)
we've had Zillions of "abortion" "Homosexual" etc.. threads all when appropriate news correspondance is leaked.

it only looks like Obama is getting more because his Admin is taking a more direct approach to things and getting involved with business (CARS, Bailout, buying loans, etc...) and thus getting more and more news coverage as it goes along.
on the other hand... I have another set of fingers.

Sure some topics are very popular and return often and I don't mind.

But people start sometimes 5 or 6 Obama threads at the same time. That's not the same.

And often it are just mirror threads: one starts an Obama thread like"Is Obama a bad president?" and another will start 3 minutes later a thread like "Is Obama a good president?"

Eh, people like criticizing the POTUS... There were countless Dubya threads close to the beginnings of his terms (and throughout the period).

More of the threads seem more geared towards conspiracy issues regarding Obama however than there were with Bush.
Such heroic nonsense!

mirror threads occur.

because the Obama Admin is struggling with the economy, a Citi Corp exec who gets a million dollar bonus is going to involve the obama admin.

the "Cash for Clunkers" is the Obama Admin's baby also...

add to that the health care troubles they're facing...

each time the news puts forth an issue tied to the Obama Admin, you get a zillion threads about President Obama

think about the Zillions of Threads President GW Bush had...

The question you should be asking is "what does Obama think of the zillion Obama threads?"

As a follow up question, are they entirely useless for the economy, and thus a prime target for Obama to thrust his stimulating package in their general direction, before drowning them in his socialist presidential juices?
