Why Do You Think People Criticize Obama?

Postby Bergnovinaia » Sun Aug 09, 2009 9:25 pm

I'm curious to hear why you think people criticize Obama. Don't they realize he inherited a huge mess from Bush and his administration?

Because he's a Democrat.

But mostly because his skin is darker than theirs.

Who inherited his mess from Clinton. It's an ongoing cycle. I'm angry that Obama hasn't done anything about that Russia incident in Georgia yet. And the healthcare thing. I'm a capitalist/libertarian so it's a no-no for me. (Funny too, cause I live in Canada.)

People criticize Obama because he's the POTUS.

Every POTUS is generally a complete dickhead.

This is the first time in history that you get called "racist" for criticizing the POTUS.

So much for "equality." Obama is a counterrevolutionary troll.

Go figure.

He is the president which means we blame him for all problems real and imagined.
It is an American tradition.

Because he hasn't done anything yet that is good for this country except dig it deeper into a hole. And last time I checked people (Bush) that graduated from Yale aren't idiots, just because you have a weakness at public speaking does not make you an idiot

They don't like him because the rest of the government tells him what to do and hes the figurehead of the government, plus you don't know Governor Sunny Perdue of Georgia. You know Obama.

Yeah but his policies under his era were. For example, (this is in brief) the only requirement for a loan when buying a home is you have to breathe!

They criticize groundlessly him for one of two reasons, depending on what they do.

Politicians/Comedians/Talk/Radio hosts- For votes/money/support

Normal Americans- Because the above group smears the truth, or they are racist.

I am not saying that Obama is the greatest president of all time, he really isn't. He is trying to do too much and not giving enough attention to the issues that really really matter, like Climate Change, and Healthcare, and Energy, and some underreported issues like the polarization of the country. He really hasn't done anything wrong, I think, except for getting involved in the Gates thing, but he isn't doing the right things good enough.

I also don't want to say that the president should be free of criticism, quite the opposite. But he shouldn't be criticized for crap that doesn't matter. He should be criticized for the things that do matter.

I disagree. The stupidity and corruption of the modern GOP cannot be traced to one simple cause (unless it is something like fear or willful ignorance itself), weather racism or anything else.

In truth, there are many causes, and while their has undeniably been considerable racism directed against Obama, many of the most vicious attacks against him now don't seem to be racially based, at least not overtly.

Their are I believe things that far Right Americans today fear more than black people. One of them for example is Communism. And the Republican leadership in their near-infinite cowardice and dishonor have worked very hard to sell people on the idea that Obama is a Marxist. I don't really doubt that their are more people in America who would hate, distrust, or even try to kill a Communist or Socialist President than a Black President.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

Perhaps, doesn't stop you from being an entitled, narrow-minded asshole able only to view things from a single point-of-view, which is that the world exists solely to serve rich, white, Christians.

Whoops. My facts are really mixed up. (It's late!) Anyway why didn't Bush put a stop to it? Oh yeah. Also there was no WMD's in Iraq but that was more Cheney.

How is Bush and idiot? Shall I name the ways...

Deregulating the economy.

Tax cuts for the rich.

Invading whatever country happens to piss him off.

Letting Cheney screw with the Constitution.

Putting security before freedom.

And I believe he flunked out of Yale. Or was that Harvard?

I laugh (no offense...) at the insinuation that there aren't valid reasons to ridicule Comrade Obama.

- He is already showing a lack of spine in putting his foot down in what for him may seem critically important international disputes. (Bush, right or wrong, was decisive...)

- He is moving us farther down the track of Socialism, which is unAmerican. Greedy as I may seem, if I don't want my money going to subsidise some lazy-ass person whose work boots are stuck in the back corner of his closet, I should have the right to decline... that is what "economic liberty" means.

- Bush didn't cause this "crisis" -- ordinary Americans did. We've been living outside our means since Clinton was in office and (Bush's bad luck...) 9/11, Katrina and the housing debacle put us where we are now. Again, Socialism is NOT the answer.

Perhaps because I disagree with some of his policies?

although I admit its much easier to classify me as a racist fascist redneck conservative and be done with me.

So it's a wonder that your presence alone in any thread don't derail them and lead to debates about world leaders and homoerotic desires.

Because I completely and totally disagree with every single one of his policies and ideas. And before you try the fallacy of "oh well I must love Bush" (what are you, three?) I did the same with GDub as well, just less because I agreed with about half of his.
