Or does it? More people = competition = overpopulation = mass deaths, destruction, and other Malthus events = less people = less oddballs.

EDIT: Event 2- More people = Competition over land and resources = war = nuclear war = extinction = no oddballs.

Good point but that's assuming that all the oddities are non beneficial to survival as a whole.

Ok lets assume active children are the oddity we talk about, according to natural selection the most fit to survive survive. Children are biologically weak compared to adults, so their chance of survival is significantly lower. However your right that some oddities can act beneficial and in turn increase their chance of survival, which = increase in reproduction = increase in that oddball population.

So that would can today's odd may be tommorows normal.

Actually good point, that would make them normal, and no longer oddities, which means that they are no longer oddballs. I hadn't even thought of that.

I hang out with a group of people who are not as radical or open minded as I am, so usually any radical idea is unknown to them.
