Again, the problem is not the parents or their method; it's the overwhelming influence of a still-biased society.

Also, I'd like to see the same thing tried again, today.

Five bucks says you'll pretty much get the same result. Society is always going to be a mired soup of racism, sexism, and all kinds of ism. It's better to prepare the child to face the many isms of society than to lead them blindly into a bloodbath.

Yes, I'm sure that trying to raise a child to recognize and reject the stereotypes and roles of race and gender is exactly the same as sheltering them from ever experiencing the existence of racist and sexist people.

You can prepare the child to recognize and reject the stereotypes, but you shouldn't act like that what's the norm for your home and family is the norm for society. That's why raising colorblind or genderless kid is a bad idea. The kids go into society with eyes closed, expecting society to match their home.

That's actually a really cool idea.

It is necessary to expose the false propaganda of the imperialists and thoroughly dispel the illusion that the imperialists will give up their positions in the colonies and dependent countries with good will. It is wrong to try to avoid the struggle against imperialism under the pretext that independence and revolution are important, but that peace is still more precious. The oppressed peoples can liberate themselves only through struggle. This is a simple and clear truth confirmed by history.

Haha. Only thing is, I'm planning on naming my first male child Karl and first female child Kim. So can't exactly do it in my case. xD

Well, "Kim" could be gender-neutral enough actually. Haha.

This is not 'good' social change. The idea is flawed at its core and will end badly for the kid.

But hey, if you want your kid to be raised with a fucked-up perception of gender, personal identity and society in general, go right ahead.

It's far less fucked-up then saying cooking and wearing dresses go with having a vagina, and having short hair and working in a cubicle have to do with having a penis.

Also, thanks for the evidence-free assertions. They're very unconvincing, a quality I quite admire.

GBeckastania wrote:Whether or not you tell the child its gender, it will hormonally feel the same way. You don't "decide" if your a boy or a girl, you have a certain biological system which makes you a boy or girl. People who have transgender surgeries and the such do so because they don't feel comfortable in their body, which is something you know at heart, you don't just "decide" it.

That's not necessarily true. The physical sex works that way but gender is actually learned. Remember that for most of human history the men also wore dresses. Today the majoritarians consider it bad for a man to wear one. But for over a hundred thousand years that is what men wore in some locations.

But I definetely see a problem with the parents are doing here.

Err, who the fuck could be more "informed" than the child themself as to their inclinations as an individual human being?

People associate feminism with the Left (some would argue correctly, as the traditional Left and feminism have historically been allied, first wave feminism was associated in many respects with the socialist movement, second wave with the new left, and third wave with post-colonialism, and feminism is in general consistent with leftist principles of inclusion and equality)

But that doesn't mean that they will act like a boy or girl. If the child doesn't feel like a girl but is biologically a girl, then he will act like a boy.

Gender roles aren't genetic. They're learned. You got your idea of manhood not from your genes but from your parents and the people who were around you as you grew up.

Gender is cultural, not biological in a lot of cases. The times when it isn't it's usually just the brain that is the opposite gender.

What’s so hideously 'evil' about acting like a boy or girl? Gender identification adds a base rock to the creation of personal identity.

Did anyone say it's "hideously evil" to act like a boy or girl?
