Again, the problem is not the parents or their method; it's the overwhelming influence of a still-biased society.
Also, I'd like to see the same thing tried again, today.
Five bucks says you'll pretty much get the same result. Society is always going to be a mired soup of racism, sexism, and all kinds of ism. It's better to prepare the child to face the many isms of society than to lead them blindly into a bloodbath.
