I have had to have that talk with my girls around that same age ... I understand some topics are not comfortable specially when you are not prepared for the questions but in the end your kids learning and interacting and knowing there are different people out there is something is beneficial enough to be worth the min of awkwardness as you figure out how to tell them

This line of thinking is illogical. Let's extrapolate. If God hates killing why is there murder? If God hates fornication why do people want to sleep with one another without being married? If God hates lying, why do little kids do it almost naturally when they're in trouble?

The assumption in the above argument that falls flat to me is "why would God make". We all have choices. That's actually what makes us human. There is still no scientific proof that homosexuality is an innate trait. Most homosexuals will tell you they can't imagine themselves as anything but, but I suspect most heterosexuals would say the same. And just like there isn't a homosexual gene there doesn't appear to be a heterosexual gene...as in a gene that tells us we prefer same sexual organs to different ones.

But getting back to the point, God doesn't hate homosexuals. God hates sin, not sinners. There's a distinction. I hate that my kids don't listen to what I tell them to do at times, I don't hate them. There's a definite distinction.

It is precisely THIS attitude that we are where we are in homosexual rights. It is not something to be covered up and hidden, because that automatically implies it is wrong and that then breeds hate. I understand people have religious beliefs that make it hard to swallow these ideas, but remember that the first step to finding God is finding yourself. If you look inside and find a love and admiration for ALL things regardless of who or what they are, then you are already halfway to knowing God. Religion should never be about hate and violence, these are things that man knows too well. Religion should be about love and acceptance, not preaching with a bible in one hand and a rifle in the other.

I'm just saying what I, the founding fathers, and the majority of American citizens believe. Thats why it isn't legal.
