I certainly never had luck with the opposite sex, but that still persists now that I know I'm not interested. I don't think I'm gay for lack of getting laid. :eyebrow:

^This.

I do believe it can be a choice or a natural preference. Or, at first it may be preference, but over time it may become a choice, allowing one to change their sexual orientation. Or reverse or in any other order that I haven't mentioned.

In short(er), it is not a choice, but sometimes it can be and it's up to the person. I know. I sound rather contradicting.

Of course, it's at least normal for humans to change something.Even to change their sexuality.

Partially this, but I don't think you can 'turn gay' or 'turn straight'.

Hi, Buffy.

I can't comment on your success-failure-rate with either gender, 'cuz I don't know your social skills and relative attractiveness to others. If someone were to ask me about your online persona as a standard of your "date-ability", I'd rate you as "worth investigating further & passionate about beliefs". But, enough of the idle speculation on why you didn't score with the opposite gender.

Yes, it's safe to imagine that your 'luck" re: possible opposite sex sexual encounter odds will remain as it was if your disinclined to further experimentation. However, if you'll indulge me in my curiosity about the matter, is it possible that if you'd had one or more heterosexual encounters around the age of puberty (or shortly thereafter) that you might imagine your sexual identity more bisexual than homosexual?

I became bisexual only 3 years ago.

Indeed. People can catch the gay.

I guess being bi is the bridge, so yes.

A friend of mine who is bisexual is considering becoming a full-straight man. Although this to some people seems highly implausible, it took me back to a day, early in my adolescence, wherein I was only attracted to girls. Here, 3 years later, I am gay.

It is curious to me. I don't iknow what to think. Can people decide to be something different, can accidental changes happen? Do you believe it is possible for a straight human being to become gay, literally changing sexuality?

Discuss.

I am doubtful of the entire "sexual preferences decided by genetics" arguement.

I beleive that the drive to procreate is basic in all humans, however I also believe that the human animal gravitates to "hedonism", much like a rat with a button that stimulates it's brain's pleasure center.

Therefore, IMHO, if the opposite sex isn't fulfilling your pleasure needs, then it's certainly possible to develop a habit of gratification with a member of one's own gender.

In my own case, I am attracted to women and generally driven crazy by their ways. I understand men much better but am not attracted to them.

Be sure not to ask if Gays can turn straight, because you'll catch seven circles of Hell for it.

I'm not in a relationship with a guy because I failed at getting a girl, I'm in a relationship with a guy because I love him.

Fail.

Do you have any evidence for this, or do you just wish that all humans were heterosexual by nature, and so you pretend that this makes it fact?

I suppose its possible to change sexualities, but I've never personally experienced it.

Scientists have proven over and over again that it is just genetic. People that claim that they were once gay or bi but turned straight usually just lied to avoid social stigma

Well being gay is a choice...so, I guess so. I am as straight as it gets, so no personal experience here but Chicks>Dicks

It's a fallacy (See what I did there?) that being gay is a choice.

Theoretically, sexuality is fluid enough to allow pretty much anything like that.

If its a choice, feel free to go out and have sex with a man.

Don't worry, we'll wait. Take pictures!

I think attraction can fluctuate. I find myself more attracted to women at times, and more to men at others. I don't become 'straight' or 'gay' during these times, though--I'm still queer, I still like men and women, just my level of interest varies.

I think your friend could certainly choose to live as a heterosexual--I don't think, however, that this would stop his attraction to other men.

Just like fetishes for different kinds of pornography can change with age, I believe fetishes for different groups of people can change with age as well.

Well no, I didn't see what you did there. Please explain. But, yeah you had a choice, you ain't born gay, but everyone has urges like that, its whether you act on them or not...

Yeah, I imagine it's probably a rare event, and I don't imagine that it happens through any sort of deliberate "choice" on the part of the individual, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened once or twice. As weird as humans can be, I'm often more surprised that something weird NEVER happens than that it does.

:eyebrow: No, it isn't a choice; you are born, usually, sexually neutral, and then develop your orientation naturally. What you are spouting is idiotic ignorance.

Say fallacy out loud.

Then say Phallus.

No, I'm pretty sure I was born bisexual. Even if you don't act on these urges, you're still gay. Even if you don't have sex with any man, you're still gay. It's hard-wired in the DNA. I've never been in a male relationship, but I am positive I am bisexual.
