Can People Turn Gay?

This issue comes up because of recent experiences I have had with people considering new sexualities.

A friend of mine who is bisexual is considering becoming a full-straight man. Although this to some people seems highly implausible, it took me back to a day, early in my adolescence, wherein I was only attracted to girls. Here, 3 years later, I am gay.

It is curious to me. I don't iknow what to think. Can people decide to be something different, can accidental changes happen? Do you believe it is possible for a straight human being to become gay, literally changing sexuality?

Unless of course it's not OK for a woman to ask for a female to ask for a female officer to carry out body checks. In which case, the answer would be no.

"I'll be about then minutes, I have to go to carry out a body check on a woman."

Yeah. Because you have people that were "straight" as a teenager and then gay/lesbian when their grown. Personally what they do is there business.

If they want to be, why not, I have no problem with it.

AIDS isn't in one part of the body, plus straight people can catch "butt AIDS" and not all gays have anal sex.

Plus, there's a unique culture and community for LGBTQABCDEFG people that doesn't exist among straights, and social stigma doesn't come from a guy liking dicks, it comes from other people being dicks. Capice?

Yes, and no.

It is possible to mis-believe where you are on the Kinsey Scale, which I still believe to be the most useful sexuality spectrum available in gay-straight terms.

For instance, your "bi" friend, who probably thought he was around 3 on the scale, may in fact be 2 or even 1 - mostly straight, but with a few people of his own gender which he finds attractive, so he thoght of himself as bi.

Regarding yoursel, I went through something fairly similar: considered myself straight (although very shy) in high school, then realised in University that I'd stared at the guys in the locker-room all along. Social pressure, and the stigma of being gay, have a lot to do with it - certainly, that was the primary reason I kept telling myself I liked girls in high school.

I don't think people can turn gay, but I did once see a book on something called "sexual fluidity." It's the common phenomena of college lesbian gets happily married to a man. Apparently, sometimes womens sexual preferences actually change over time. Not so much with guys. Wish I could remember the author.

well what do YOU think. you are the one who "turned" gay.

your friend has just decided to concentrate on one of the genders he is attracted to. he wont really be straight but he wont be forcing affection that he doesnt feel.

i dont think that the change happens. some people realize as they mature that what society expected them to feel didnt turn out to be what they actually felt (you) and some people force themselves to pretend to feel something they dont feel at all. forcing yourself tends to turn out badly.
