given that most economists are social democrats of one sort or another, i think this means you aren't reading very representative books on economics

no, most economists that publish economics papers and grad students who will replace them. there have been a number of surveys demonstrating this. in USia the plurality are democrats, and the majority vote democrat. nearly half self-identify as liberal in the USian sense on a radical-liberal-moderate-conservative scale, with 'moderate' cleaning up the bulk of the rest. they tend to be less far left than their poli sci and sociology academic neighbors, but they are by no means either traditionally right wing or raging liberts. those form the smallest portions of the profession, actually.

wow i had been thinking along the same lines, but i didn't realize it was a political idea that had 150 year history. i think voluntary association with governments or quasi government that don't occupy contiguous territory or any territory at all is a fascinating idea... i just didn't know it had a name.Libt wrote:Panarchism.
