Yeah but it wasn't ongoing eleven years ago when this thread was made.

It sort of was. Coronaviruses have been affecting us for at least several years. SARS and MERS are examples of coronaviruses that predated the novel coronavirus. I'm not sure what the significance of eleven years ago is, but I just wanted to point that out.

Speaking of which, I read that a recent study done at Arizona State University found a new mutation of the Wuhan virus that is a lot less dangerous. They said that if this new mutation becomes prevalent, then the pandemic might fizzle out like the SARS outbreak of the early 2000s did.
