I mock most Christian (and other religious beliefs) due to the hypocrisy that is shown throughout their "sacred text" and other documents that record beliefs. Christianity I personally attack the most. Why? No idea. I tend not to mock Lutheranism, since that is what I grew up with, but that is just bias.

It's not just Christianity either. It is just about every other belief or organized religion out there. It is mocked because of flaws or because people just flat out disagree with it and want to make the opposing side look bad.

I don't "hate" it, because hate is destructive, but I do agree that religion is a basically negative force that the world would be better off without. That's part of why I'm a Christian--because I'm not religious.

Jesus and god are one in the same, read the bible

The Gospels make no such thing.

gays and non believers.
Levticus 18:22 "Though shalt not sleep with man as thou does with woman, for it is an abomonation"

The Tanakh has nothing to do with Christian beliefs. The Tanakh is just the accumulated legends, myths, and traditions of the Israelites up to the time of Jesus's birth to provide cultural context for Jesus's life. It's not actually a set of rules and laws to be followed.

Christian teachings are found entirely within the four Gospels, many (if not most) of which explicitly contradict the Old Testament laws. The Old Testament laws are not part of Christian teaching.

Just saw a video in Health class. They show a quote from a magazine that says "Religious people tend to be more obese." That's all. For the next five minutes, they had clips of several people being interviewed, primarily religious officials as a documentary would, stating that more people should be religious to curb obesity. Apparently, gluttony and sloth are sins. I am absolutely bewildered at this. Did they not know how to read? You'd think they thought the quote from the magazine said the exact opposite of what it stated! Talk about flat out ignoring evidence and statistics.

Clearly, when Paul talks about the Law and faith apart from the Law in Romans, he means Roman law and not Judaic law.

Also, yeah, there's nothing in the Bible about Jesus being both human and God. Nothing in Phillipians or anywhere else in the New Testament.

I'm with you on the literal part. There are definitely quite a few parables and double entendres in the Bible.

Infallible? Maybe when you look at some of the opinions that Paul has, possibly. Other than that, no, not really. You can't go "Well, Jesus said that if I divorce my wife, I'm allowing her to commit adultery... but at the same time, I want a divorce, and it's cool in the OT," for example.

John wrote:In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [...] And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

I'm certain that isn't the only instance, but it's the first one that comes to mind.

It's funny, you know, reading through this thread.

Several people have been saying 'we christians', and 'christians do x' as if it's some kind of hivemind.

Does this mean we must assassinate the Pope in order to save them/us?
