Wow... the ignorance...
Seriously, what are you thinking with a comment like that?

Tis no ignorance. I've seen the GOP steadily march lockstep towards movement Christianity for the last 30+ years. As to what I'm thinking, I'm of the same mind as Barry "Mr. GOP" Goldwater:
Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.

They have gained control, and they are a menace.

I'm...kind of like that. But in a way more extremely Libertarian way. I still go Republican, though, because I was way better off under Republicans than any Democrat President so far. I'd be with the Libertarians, but even they don't really hold my views right. Plus, in America, it's basically pointless to align with a third party. So yeah, considering you're more Conservative than me, and I go with the GOP, I guess you kind of belong there.

Obama's budget is bullshit, and calls for more irresponsible borrowing, degrading our standard of living and debasing our currency. It has nothing to do with fiscal sanity.

Republicans are the worst people known to man kind

Democrats are pansies who dont have a backbone to stand up to them

The American 2 party system is set up to ruin everything. Its a choice between 2 equally terrible options. We need a strong 3rd party to save the country

Increasingly, I'm starting to feel unwelcome in the GOP. I can remember when the party used to be known as a "big tent", an inclusive organization where all Americans who believed in lower taxes, a smaller and decentralized Federal government, and a foreign policy that put our country's interests first was given an audience. Barry Goldwater was right! He lived just long enough to see the beginning of this takeover.

One does not join the Republican party.

One develops it, like a rash, or a tumour.

BTW, I used to be a reliable GOP voter as well, as some of the posters who've been around will remember.

it seems to me that to be a good republican today you must believe in 2 core things:

1) abortion is murder no matter the stage of pregnancy or urgency of problem.

2) taxes can never go up no matter the tax, no matter the tax credit/rebate/allowance, no matter how little the tax increase/removal of tax loophole matters to the people/corporations affected.

things like anti-gay, anti-union, rabid christian, anti-islam, anti-immigration, pro-gun, etc are icing on the cake.
whatever

It just doesn't seem responsible to me to vote for Republicans. The fellow they appointed to head up their energy and environment task force --- a major position in the government --- announced that we don't have to worry about climate change because God promised Noah there wouldn't be another global catastrophe after The Flood.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -Noah.html

Sarah Palin insisted that we don't have an energy problem because Jesus made sure to put enough oil in the earth to last us until the rapture. And libertarians are the cultists? I don't think so.
