Unfortunately, as forum admin, I can't actually load new smilies into the backend - that's the Boss' job. Once they're there, however, I should be able to implement them.

Let's see, what else? The post ranks are a slightly updated version of the forum post ranks we had in antiquity (way back before the forums first moved to Jolt.) Since I can edit post ranks and stuff, I think I'll probably start up the one-of-a-kind forum rank title raffle again once the forum is out of beta.

As [violet] already said, once the forum's survived the load test, then we can start messing about with multiple themes and other cosmetic adjustments. I for one would love to see a set of custom NS smilies, but alas lack the skills/access to make it happen. I rather like the current color scheme, but then I saw this place when it was brand-spanking new and really ugly and we all had to yell at the Powers That Be about stuff like user profiles on the right and all.

I've adjusted the settings so you can have nested quoted up to 5 levels deep; it may be adjusted as the staff deems necessary. Additionally, in the interest of preventing pic spam and page-breaking stuff, images in posts are limited to a maximum of 800x600. Really, for a forum, you shouldn't even need to be posting pics that big. But you can. So....

Oh yes, I can and have created custom BBCodes for the forum, they're posted in this thread, and feel free to post in that thread to play around and try them out. If there's other post-formatting options you'd like, let me know and I'll see if I can pull it off. That Blocktext one gave me a ton of grief, so I make no promises, but I'll try.

Pretty much managerial issues. And since NS is no longer hosted on Jolt's servers, we'd like to get our own first-party forum up and running. Y'know, one that actually works with the game? Jolt's done all of squat to try and resolve the email verification issues several NS users have had.

The word from the Powers That Be is that this forum is intended to more tightly integrate with the game, hence the NS sidebar, you flag as your avatar, and stuff like that. Stuff we can't do with Jolt.

Actually there is a way: Just go into your User Control Panel at the top, then select Board Preferences, then Edit Display Options. The buttons to display (or in your case, not display) images and avatars are there. I just tried them right now to check that they'll work and they do, so you're all good.

Personally I already prefer this look to Jolt's (where's that skin from, 1993?). But assuming we survive the load test, we can tweak to our heart's content. So feel free to post suggestions for improved cosmetics!

Perhaps we should be redirected (immediately) back to the thread when we post instead of clicking again on some link. That can reduce demand because we don't have another page to go through after posting.
