I knew the mechanics of sex before kindergarten. Wasn't scary or disturbing or confusing to me at all. What's the problem?

If you can't talk to your kids about sex without getting red in the face and stammering a lot, I highly recommend the book Where Did I Come From? It explains the mechanics of heterosexual sex and the biological process of reproduction in a straight-forward and age-appropriate manner for little kids. It was one of my favorite books when I was learning to read.

Most of the reproduction stuff was more on fetal development and the like than intercourse. Considering homosexuality involves no reproduction why should it be taught in a reproductive class in the first place? And how do you explain anal sex to kids? I can guarantee you if you do tell them they will thinks its weird and unnatural, at least that is what has happened in my experience.

I will never understand this. A significant number of kids have already started puberty by the time they're in 5th grade, so that's when you START teaching them about sex?! And a significant number of kids have younger siblings well before they hit 5th grade, so why would you wait that long to explain reproduction to them?

As for why the mechanics of sex should be explained, it's a simple health and safety objective. Can we at least see the value in explaining these activities so the kid will know what's going on if a grown up tries to get them to engage in sex acts?

When I was in junior high school I knew a couple of girls who already had kids by time they were thirteen. Clearly eighth grade was a little late to start them in sex-ed.
