No they don't. Go search NSG posts. NO ONE has defended Obama because he's black.

No one in real life I've talked to have done that either.

Someone gets elected.

Idiotic political cartoons and Photoshops ensue.

Obama would get the same treatment if he was a white guy from Idaho, it just would have a different focus.

Like the Photoshop with Bush wearing the Ring of Power from LotR. Or the one with Bush reading a kid's book upside down. With Bush it was "OMG We have a authoritarian retard for president!" With Clinton it was, "We have an amoral sleaze-face from Arkansas as President!" This is nothing new.

Just look it up on Google. Any political figure you want. There will be offensive Photoshops and cartoons.

Does this say volumes about the American political and popular media systems? In a word, yes. Has it ever been any different? No. Will it ever be any different? In all probability no.

TL;DR

Offensive media is and always will be a part of being in office. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Have you seen the picture in question its not "The president looks like and has the intelligence of a monkey pictures" we had for bush and the similar tidings we've always had its, "The black president is a monkey." Look up Porch Monkey. There are plenty of others but there's been an overall historical trend of comparing blacks to monkeys to dehumanize them. Plenty of other cartoons and shops have been made of him but this is different.

Well, really it's neither here nor there. Noones stopping anyone from drawing these pictures, just as noone's stopping white people from saying 'nigger'.

But just because they aren't being arrested for saying or drawing it, doesn't mean they shouldn't be told unequivocally how racist they are for doing so.

I am against the selective approval for the nigger word as well. Either it is good for all or bad for all. Whiter people can still easily be offended by that word just like black people can. Someone using the word does not make them a racist. Someone using the word for only one group of people (however they define a group) is racist. It creates seperate rules of acceptance and therefor acts as a dividing factor.

Your responses, beyond using "Rumsfeldian self-question and answer techniques," are bizarre in that you just admitted the depiction (with, remember, the caption) is racist.

You're merely saying that the depiction is racist, dehumaninzing, ethically wrong, but we should not care that it is racist, dehumanizing, and ethicial wrong. Why? "Because it happens."

Maybe if more people spoke out against such depictions instead of disingenuously defending them or shrugging them off, they would happen less often and political discourse could be more civil.

When you're talking about the staunch ideology that believes in giving welfare hand-outs to lazy people paid for by those who work harder than they do, and the direct opposition to that ideology, you'll never get civil political discourse.

Those who work hard and earn their lifestyle have too much to lose when the pan-handlers and the politicians whose votes they bought with essentially a bribe paid for by forcefully robbing those hard workers, come beating a path to their doors.

Also, labeling all those who don't find it racist as disingenuous is pretty cheap.

What is clearly disingenuous is clipping a post that replied with another post that admitted the depicition was racist, but argued we should ignore that fact.

But I will say that denying that a depiction of President Obama and his parents as chimpanzees with the caption "Now you know why no birth certificate" is racist is disingenuous -- especially when the author of the depiction has apologized and essentially admitted it was racist, the county GOP of which she is an official has vehemently denounced it as racist and censured her, state GOP officials have denounced it as racist, and even right-wing Fox News commentators (among other right-wing voices) have denounced it as racist.

Your babbling about an "ideology" and class warfare between the "lazy" and "hard workers" is all very vague, ominous, and mysterious, but you don't even come close to making sense or connecting what the fuck you are talking about to the subject at hand. I'm hope this is not what you meant to imply, but, to one not wanting to give you the benefit of the doubt, it could sound like you are equating certain racial groups with "lazy" welfare recipients being "bribe[d]" by politicians. However, I won't get into a side debate with you about what you consider "welfare;" why children, the disabled, and the elderly are "lazy;" or other misconceptions that underlie your apparent vehement wrongheadness on yet another set of issues.

Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.

So you simply trolling or you really believe that?

I went to school with some rather wealthy people(well their parents were and many if not most were set up for life).

The comment is valid. Some of them are nothing more then meat sacks. Have yet to do anything worthwhile. A couple played too much and wasted what they had. A couple like a good friend took what he had and made even more. A good guy overall. If I asked for money, he would give it.

Or do you live in some sort of feudal fantasy world where the "rich" are all hereditary lords who live in castles, play polo and kick peasants?

Or maybe they have a sense of entitlement and or superiority because they have money and in more then a few cases they didn't even make the money.

Yes, I am clearly the poorer debater. Even though the last time you accused me of playing the "race card" you were unable to show where in any of my posts I had done any such thing, at least you have me pointing out a hint of possible racism here (although I was giving you the benefit of the doubt).

Can't miss you until you're gone, Ambassador. Seriously, your delegation is like one of those stores that has a "Going Out Of Business" sale for twenty years. Stay or go, already.*snip*

The Black Forrest wrote:The comment is valid. Some of them are nothing more then meat sacks. Have yet to do anything worthwhile. A couple played too much and wasted what they had. A couple like a good friend took what he had and made even more. A good guy overall. If I asked for money, he would give it.
If they're still in school then even Captain Obvious could talk about how they have yet to do anything worthwhile. As for the ones who played and wasted it all, that would be the nature of life dealing justice to them. If you can't handle money, money will not stay with you. The ones who took what they had and made even more clearly earned their keep.
The Black Forrest wrote:Or maybe they have a sense of entitlement and or superiority because they have money and in more then a few cases they didn't even make the money.
So long as they follow the law, I have no problem with their sense of entitlement; in fact, if they'll let me know what they're entitled to (within the boundaries of law), I'll provide that service and since they're rich, charge an inflated price for it, making myself rich in the process. The current method of providing quality housing to low and moderate income families on a small scale isn't fast enough right now, but it is a start.

The Black Forrest wrote::D All things posted on the Net are true of course. Did I mention I am a Nobel Laurette?
You do realize that none of what I posted is hard to achieve, right? Every single bit of it can be done by just about anyone. Doing your service time is as easy as walking into a recruiter's office and signing your life away for a few years; not that hard. That one will also provide you plenty of opportunity to work in multiple locations around the world, and give you opportunity to earn your education.

Really for a man of the world that is all you can come up with?
You need to ask that of those who play the race-card.

Oh, and for those who believe in some sort of "born into wealth" hereditary nonsense:

http://www.nytimes.com/books/first/s/st ... naire.html

And that's from the NY Times, not exactly known for its soft--or even fair--treatment of "wealthy" people in its pages. Over 80% of millionaires in the US are self-made, meaning they earned their way to affluence.
