The idea that cutting spending is about the deficit is a blatant lie, it's about petty attack on those who need support most.

"Dear America,

Since the economic crisis is attributable to poor fiscal management by the government and basic fraud by leading financial service companies, we have agreed to cut the wages of all elected representatives by half and double taxes on financial institutions in order to atone for the grave pressure we've placed on everyone. It may not fully solve the situation but it's a gesture we feel we need to make.

It would be swell if the people who actually cause this kind of mess were the ones that had to tighten their belts and not the people who go to work everyday just to make ends meet. You broke it, why are the poor and the unfortunate the ones that have to pay?

First of all, Wisckol's article has several sticking points. For one thing, Tea Party does not stand for "Taxed Enough Already". It refers to the Boston Tea Party in 1775, when several angry American colonists dumped British tea into Boston Harbor as an act of protest against British "taxation without representation" and heavy-handed governmental control. Secondly, Wisckol seems to ignore the fact that the current tax rates are due in large part to the Bush tax cuts, which Obama wants to repeal for wage earners above $250,000. However, as Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) has said, how taxing the job creator will help the worker is anyone's guess.

Secondly, the main reason that the Tea Party is currently mad at government is the deficit, which has more than doubled under President Obama. Paul Ryan (R-WI)'s proposal to cut government discretionary spending by over $1 trillion over 10 years, backed by Republicans and a good amount of the Tea Party, has already passed the House. Obama has vowed to veto it, preferring instead a plan that cuts about half the amount of the Ryan Plan, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has sworn that it will never pass the Senate.

I have seen other articles from other economists stating that taxes are very high comparatively, so I don't know what to do with Wisckol's article in comparison to theirs.

Anyway, I think you could simply get rid of all debt by getting rid of money. Although certain people in power wouldn't like this, and would do anything to stop this from happening.

Yeah, average income dropped because the unemployment rate went up, with less people earning income, it makes the average less than what it was before, therefore taxes just seem lower, but because income earners that only earn so much get tax refunds and less are paying into the tax system, it also appears that taxes are lower than they were before.

Um, no, the actual tax rates are lower than they've been in decades, as in, regardless of actual income less of it is being taken.

Edit: typo

EDIT: I mean, seriously, that is basically what happened, why would management vote to restrict themselves if they can get away with it? The amazing thing is they can go to certain sectors of lesser people and say 'hey, it's those other people who are being paid to do nothing that are screwing everything up, let's screw them!'

Divide and conquer.

People would rather hear that it's his fault, and they simply told them so. It's not that hard to figure out.
