US Journalists in North Korea Pardoned

Postby Greater Americania » Tue Aug 04, 2009 12:17 pm

The United States journalists that were arrested and sentenced to years in hard labor were just pardoned by Kim Jong Il himself. It just came over CNN itself. Thoughts?

EDIT: Official CBN article just written.

Yes, apparently he negotiated their release. CNN has it up on their main page. CNN just received the info minutes ago.

This morning Bill Clinton made a surprise visit to North Korea. Later in the day, it was reported the two American journalists held there were being "pardoned".

I'm actually surprised Bill Clinton pulled that off. I wasn't going to be surprised if he left empty handed.

I can't help but wonder what he said.

Actually, I think that KJI got just what he wanted out of this, publicity and added legitimacy to his "statesmanship".

Good that the 2 ladies were released though.

I doubt he had to "say" anything. He would not have gone unless the release was already arranged; all Kim Jong-il wanted was a photo opportunity standing next to an important person, so it could look like he is still important too.

I suspect that it was a combination of his ineffable charm, outstanding diplomatic skills and sharing a common interest in cigars and women with Kim Jong Il. ;)

Yes, he is. I personally think the amount of animus over his lechery is just so much sour grapes because he gets all the chicks and Ken Starr probably sat in the corner with the rest of the geeks.
