In Science, creationism just doesn't work, (and I am a theist, a Christian), because if you don't understand something, the acceptable response may be: 'God doesn't want us to understand yet, so I won't try' or 'God says so'. However, evolution doesn't teach the same moral values that creationism does, like being kind, humble, to have integrity, family values, etc...So in science, forget God for a second, embrace the universe as a test tube for your experiments, but when outside, let your spiritual life come through. (Of course if you are religious.) I believe undoubtedly that creationism is correct, but I also believe evolution must be correct in order for science to progress. Like all 'controversial' theories in physics, they have to be there to progress, so let it be.
actually all those moral values are predicted by evolution, I suggest the books the science of good and evil and Freedom Evolves
no they're not. Evolution would state that we would fight for our own lives first, rather than organise ourselves into distinct family groups and mate for life. Hence the survival of the fittest.
And to those who say evolution and creationism are at odds with each other. Prove it. They are perfectly compatible, the Big Bang Theory, was invented by a Catholic, but apparently the BBT is at odds with religion to. Sure, a lot of mainstream Christianity will be at odds with evolution, but I am not a mainstream Christian. I think it is perfectly viable for both to peacefully coexist. Evolution is everywhere we go, and essentially non-human evolution doesn't contradict religious theories at all. If you believe in an Omnicapable God, then you should be able to say that He used evolution to ease the transition of different species and take less time! 7 days would be a pretty tight squeeze, creating every species would just get annoying wouldn't it? As far as human evolution, what is to say that we were slowly evolved from a unicellular organism, but God didn't communicate with us until we were in His image, i.e. Human. Hence, this creates the ability for evolution and creation to coexist.
PS: My mind is weird, my thought processes are crazy, this was just the thought that went through my head!
