This article is misleading since the Army set up base by the ruins of Babylon (a city) and NOT a wonder of the world. Also, all that remained was some rubble that would have been swept away by sand and dust anyways. Besides, the locals had already torn the place apart and the US Army was willing to donate 800,000 dollars plus labor to help clean up any "damage" they caused. This is just another way to make the United States look bad and its A FUCKING SHAM!

While we are out it Germany owes money to Greece for the Parthenon, Italy owes money to Egypt for when the Roman's looted the tombs.
The UK, France, USA, Germany, Austria, and most other nations owe reperations to Egypt as well for all the damage that their archeologists caused.
Spain owes Mexico Reperations for the destruction and looting of BILLIONS worth of damage they caused to historical sites via looting and settling.
The list could go on and on and on. Yes damage was done, the USA even admits it. They gave $800,000 toward restoration; thats something that no other nation who has destroyed or damaged an historic site has done in my recollection; end of story as far as I am concerned.

Hello, United Kingdom? Greece just called. They want to talk about some sculptures.
You've got messages from Egypt, India, Pakistan, China, a couple of African countries, and Australia. They want to talk about this 'British Museum' thing.
(I seem to recall in a book I read there was a little quip about the British Museum...'Home of millions of artifacts, as many as several dozen of which were obtained legitimately)

All very bad, of course, but why does no one seem to want to talk about the hundreds of thousands of innocent lives snuffed out by US action? Even those anti-war folks who talk about lives lost almost always prefer to talk about American soldiers who've died.
The civilian death toll is the elephant in the living room.

That is, our media doesn't talk about non-Americans. Unfortunately those of us who do tend to get shut out by, say, Michael Jackson.
