So far all we have is speculation based on modifications improving heat dissipation. I'm more inclined to believe the shroud and handguard simply became a bit too hot to handle properly during sustained fire as opposed to "melting."

If your referring to overheating, that happens just as much with the M-16.
Or at least if did back in vietnam when it was still fully automatic.

But on the subject: NO. The XM8 is a really stupid looking weapon. And our current weapons work well enough. Come up with something that looks badass and we'll talk. After all, 50% of warfare is psychological, and the other half is apparently "knowing."

Wow - what an amazingly silly view of warfare. It's only topped by your judging a weapon not by it's effectiveness but by silly ideas of what you personally think is cool.

The 'kickass' factor is extremely important to us civvies, who will be watching inaccurate movies about our armed forces for YEARS after the weapon enters service. The least we ask is that it not look like a damn space toilet.

Ah, sorry, been out of the conversation for a while, thought we were still on the XM-8's supposed melting problem.

No sane nation chooses a weapon because a child thinks it looks "cool".

That's one thing I'll credit the M16 with. Speaking from my own experience, it's pretty good for left handed operation.

No worries. (However, I am half inclined to ask if you though the "it" in "Or at least if did back in vietnam when it was still fully automatic." referred to th XM8... )Genivaria wrote:Because we're on the internet. Most people state there sarcasm on the internet.

First of all, most people don't indicate sarcasm with a tag.
Secondly, as "eir" is just as easy to type as "ere", you appear not to know the difference between possessive and demonstrative pronouns.
