How does a house even become infested with ticks? Tell me, so I can prevent it from ever happening.

Well we do have two dogs, so that obviously contributes to the problem. But ourse oddly never seem to go away no matter how much poison we spray. Thankfully, the problem is more or less contained to our backyard (with the occasional one inside). So not having animals helps. But we also think the birds that come into our yard in the morning are also spreading them. So scare off as many birds as possible. And lastly, if you see even one tick, kill it and spray your whole house and yard with tick poison. You have to wipe them out early or else it'll be nearly impossible and very expensive.

Most of them are completely harmless, I know, but I can't even look at a photograph of one of those eight-legged, multocular monsters without shivering. I occasionally have nightmares involving them. About four nights ago, I dreamed I was attempting to kill a very large, particularly hairy specimen lurking in my kitchen with a shoe, when suddenly it sprouted insect-like wings and flung itself at me with unbelievable speed. I woke up thrashing my arms and legs about beneath the covers before it collided with me. I normally hate to kill or harm anything, but I make an exception for spiders—at least for the ones that make their way into my house. As I'm typing this, I've noticed that five spider webs in my bedroom I recently destroyed have reappeared.

My own irrational fear, is not doing enough about things i should be doing.

There has been some success by behaviourist psychology to deal with patterns of behaviour or phobias.
These phobias can often warp into very strange beliefs, although the OP's mention of someone fearing clowns isn't so irrational as you might think.
It's the face paint, indeed a few hundred years ago this was used to terrifying effect by warriors dressing themselves in woad (in celtic areas), you might also recall some of the native US indians using warpaint (often depicted as red).
So in that sense the person may have a valid reason for fear of clowns, as face paint can be scary, but to the point of fearing Mcdonald is sad.
As for your fear of aliens surrounding your bed, hmmm not sure how to explain that one. But being scared of things in your own bedroom is obviously something no one needs so talk to someone about it that you can trust.
