Hopefully they won't turn Sirte into Tawerga, if they take it.

I highly doubt it. Not only is Sirte more high-profile than Tawerga- I'd never heard of the latter until it was brought up- but most civilians have already gotten the hell out of Dodge, in the case of the former. The rest are either Gaddafi soldiers or die-hard Gaddafi loyalists. And the fact that the UN and NATO and pretty much the entire West would have to be either cartoonishly evil or extremely stupid to not notice a campaign of ethnic cleansing going on in Sirte.

Let's hope that you're right, and it doesn't turn into Kosovo 2.0. Also, I'm not sure that all civvies left, because some might just be too stubborn to leave their hometown, so it's not just die-hard loyalists and soldiers, it's also people who don't want their homes destroyed. Let's hope that these people will have better representation, than those of Tawerga.

Al-Jazeera is reporting that the NTC claims Mutassim Gaddafi has been captured and taken to Benghazi. My Internet is being stupid and taking forever to load it, but regardless:

Well...most people in sirte are Arabs and dark-skinned Libyans have been treated well and not ethnically cleansed. And really even the most stubborn civilian would have left the city...the shelling and bombing was just so relentless. And well...the die-hard gaddafi loyalist have probably became gaddafi soldiers...

I love seeing all the Gaddafi fanboys running around on Youtube. One commenter summed it up best:

Gadhaffi's most powerful force now resides on the internet lol.

And I will bet you 10 of whatever currency Libya uses that some percentage of them are pro-Gaddafi just because they think they're "Smashing The Man, DudeTM".

Not necessarily. Many civillians are too scared to leaved their homes, and others may have nowhere to go and no means out anyway.

That would be 10 Libyan Dinars, which comes to $8.15. :ugeek:

People usually are. When they're being attacked, civilians do the thing that they think is the safest, which isn't always the most rational thing to do. In Sirte - they have both sides to deal with: anyone leaving the city can be deemed "unpatriotic", by their neighbors. And they're scared that if they leave, they could get shot by NTC. It's a lose-lose situation, so they're likely to stay inside their homes.

Hopefully NTC does its best to investigate this. If they don't, it's going to bite them in the ass later on.

Which is not a very high bar.
It was, however, really inspiring to see ALL of Qadhafi's supporters, every last one of them outside of Sirte and Bani Walid, courageously marching in the streets, raising their green flags to the skies...

10 to 15 Qadhafi supporters did hoist green flags and march. They were armed, though, and it turned into a gun battle.

Well..they had some chances to leave the fighting during the cease fires. Of course as you said...they would be seen as unpatriotic.

Bulldozers are demolishing the Bab al-Azizia compound. According to NTC officials, the area will become a public park.

Ok, this is more important than the demolishing of Bab al-Azizia.

NTC forces have entered Bani Walid.
