Is Obama still considered the king of the left of the Democratic Party? No. People like Kucinich are definitely more left, but he's ran twice and barely won any support. Even Fox News correspondonts were surprised he wasn't winning because he encompassed all liberal stances: pro-gay, pro-universal healthcare, anti-wars, anti-NATO, etc. Obama is essentially a centrist in the party, but if they ran someone who was left of Obama, I'm pretty sure republicans would take to the streets armed. I mean, look at how they act with a guy who's friendly to wall street and big business... The Democratic leadership rather have a middle-of-the-road person, it's always been their style.
Boredom is counter-revolutionary.

I think he has good intentions and I like him as a person.
But he's too young and too inexperienced to deal with the stressful job of being President.

The economy is in the shitter, which he and Bush are at fault for.
Our foreign policy sucks, Iran and North Korea can do whatever they want apparently.

His faults:
$14 trillion dollar debt.
10% unemployment
Allowing North Korea and Iran to test weapons.
Has done almost nothing about the Mexican Drug Cartels illegally importing drugs and gang members into America Cities.

Reagan, by the time he left office, was responsible for a majority of the national debt. Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II are responsible for the vast majority of the debt. But Reagan is a God.

I disliked obama:
- he has no idea on what to do with foreign policy (all he did was to mirror an anti - bush outline, which is good for a while ... but what next?)

- he has no idea what to do with the budget (yippee we need all the nice good programs but I am a fiscal conservative, WTH does he mean by that?) TLDR: let the dems and repubs squabble over it while I go do other inane and safe soundbites besides we dont have a budget in 2010 and we were fine, let just do the same in 2011 and maybe until I finish my term.

- obamacare is my legacy .... but I dont want it fast tracked to the SCOTUS, let us just have the governors create their own -- just fuckin let it end. Take charge on this, dont give us mixed messages.

- I really do not know anything in my gay agenda I love gays and I love the bible belt.... who do you think will give me more votes?

- Unemployment sucks ..... I know we have problems when I ran for the presidency in 2008 but it is not my fault, and when I ran for re-election in 2012 it is still bush faults for the unemployement, bush has 8 years ..... i need 8 years for results too.

- We have major problems cropping up all over the world ..... as a president people needs to know me more I guess a NCAA stint in ESPN is a good thing to do after days of silence on major issues and maybe a trip to Rio to show americans how fabulous their president is.

Well okay. You say I can't say this, but he is socialist. I'm not calling me a pinko commie, but you must admit his programs are socialist.

I think the problem is that he's too much of a media darling. Everyone wants to know his opinion. Really what he should be doing is representing all of our opinions - the most overwhelming public opinion - and he's not. He's butting his head into affairs of the states instead of the country, and yes...I lost respect for him because he cursed on public television. A lot of people I talk to, also, are surprised by Obamacare. He's pushing it through incredibly fast, and most people I chat with (not all right or left, most of my friends I think are moderates) seem to be in agreement that he's going about it the wrong way, that this isn't what we wanted. Anyways, I think its interesting that he seems rather quiet right now. I don't know why that is, other than they're telling him to lay low until they come up with a good platform him to run on in 2012.

[quote="Sierra Lobo";p="5079596"][quote="Coccygia";p="5079550"]First of all: I am an Independent, a social democrat by conviction, and a liberal Democratic voter usually. I am not a right-winger of ANY kind. So:

The guy is a total douche. To be more specific about his Doucheness: he broke just about every promise he made while running. I knew there was going to be trouble when he made Hillary Sec. of State to stop her from challenging his nomination - despite the fact that she had hardly any more qualifications for that office than he did for his. The result is that our foreign policy seems to be adrift. He said he was going to "engage" with iran, Cuba, N. Korea, etc. There is no indication that he has done so, and if he has it's been a failure. Then came the Obamacare fiasco. Even with 60 votes in the Senate the Dems were stymied, and a handful of Democrats (& that shandeh for di goyim, Holy Joe Lieberman) held the bill hostage. Not that it mattered because the bill had been written to the specifications of Big Pharma (thanx Sen. Baucus!) and the Insurance industry anyway. So we got what even die-hard Obama-ite Stephanie Miller slipped up and called "a watered-down piece of crap". Then he allowed offshore drilling. I thought "drill baby drill" was Sarah Palin's sound-bite. Then there's his (as usual) timid efforts at reforming the finance industry, etc. And oh yes, we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan, Gitmo is still open and now there are going to be military trials for the detainees just like under Dubya. It's like Obama was elected to continue most of the Bush-era policies intact. But who cares? We have an African-American president, whoopee shit. Gays can join the military (well, not just yet, the matter's still "under study" even though DADT was "repealed"). And after 2 years in office he has changed what passes for his mind about gay marriage. Once again whoop de friggin' doo. Don't misunderstand: McCain would've been a lot worse, IMFAO. Any Republican would have been. He has done a few good things but always not enough. He was elected by a wide margin and had a mandate to change things which he pissed away. He raised people's hopes and totally betrayed them. In any case he is WAY out of his depth in the job. The impression I get is that once he has satisfied his corporate masters and pacified his base with weak symbolic measures, he has NO GODDAM IDEA WHAT TO DO. NOT A CLUE. Hence the inaction on foreign policy (along wuith an incmpetent Sec. of State). I could go on, but why bother? HE JUST FREAKIN MAKES ME WANNA PUKE! I HATE HIM! I HATE HIM! AAARRGGGHHH!

I agree with most of the things said in this paragraph, but I must say it is ineffective of you to dramatize and hypabolize everything.

"It" doesn't cover anything. "It," despite the attempt at Republican branding, is not itself a healthcare system. "It" is not coverage and no one has "it." The mandate has yet to take effect, so there is no compulsion to change coverage.

In fact, these are the provisions that have taken effect since passage:
- Would provide a $250 rebate this year to Medicare prescription drug beneficiaries whose initial benefits run out.

- Would provide immediate access to high-risk pools for people with no insurance because of pre-existing conditions.

- Would bar insurers from denying people coverage when they get sick.

- Would bar insurers from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions.

- Would bar insurers from imposing lifetime caps on coverage.

- Would require insurers to allow people to stay on their parents' policies until they turn 26.

2011

- Would require individual and small group market plans to spend 80 percent of premium dollars on medical services. Large group plans would have to spend at least 85 percent.

Which of these changed your situation.

President Obama is not gay. He's not a socialist. He's not a muslim. He's most certainly an American citizen.

He's just painfully incompetent and paralyzingly weak.

He is totally unwilling to adress the looming fiscal crises in the country. He voted against providing healthcare to infants who survived abortion. His health care bill will wreck the health care system.
