I think both of the kids should've been punished, the one who instigated more severely.

I understand the reason for the body slam, but I think it sets a bad precedent to not punish kids for harming classmates.

However, if you go down the Zero Tolerance path, all you're doing is telling the victim that it's wrong to stand up for yourself and to just let the little shit have his way with you. Zero Tolerance Policies have not shown a decrease in school bullying and school violence. It's a stupid policy that should be eliminated. What SHOULD be done instead is that the bully should be suspended and have a parent teacher conference and I'd enroll the kid who acted in self defense some Martial Arts class and teach him to only use martial arts in self defense.

Also, how are you suppose to prepare them to be an adult and to live in the real world if you baby them all the time?
