As a former bully, (One day a kid fought back, hard!) I believe now, that both need punished.

Why the Hel do both need to be punished? The little shit started it, Casey let him slap him around some, block some of his shot and presumably asked him to stop before body slamming him. If anything, the little shit needs to be spanked, and spanked hard for being such a little shit.

Casey was NOT in the wrong on this one, and we have video evidence to prove it.

He took it until he decided it was time to establish that he would not be messed with ever again. He made his point and walked away. I see nothing wrong with it.

Back when I was in grade school, there was a big 'self reliance' thing going on. Kids were told to 'work their problems out on their own.' Which, of course, directly conflicted with what my parents told me about not starting fights and going to get a teacher when things went wrong.

So one day, a couple of kids decided, during a 'bus evacuation drill', which I always thought were awesome since I lived about a hundred feet away from the school and never got to be on a bus otherwise, decided to begin kicking the back of my seat. Because the bus in question was rather ancient, without a hard backing to the seats, this was quite painful.

First, I turned around and told them to stop. Next, I raised a hand and was ignored. Finally I turned around and punched one of them in the forehead. Two seconds later I was being hauled off the bus and into the principles office where both of them tearfully testified that I had just suddenly turned around and hit the kid in the face for no reason.

And that was the start of my glorious career in being the scapegoat.

If he had walked up and started kicking the bully in the kidneys I'd say it was out of hand, but once he was sure that the kid's little pack of thugs weren't coming after him, he left.

I got lucky in that everyone was so shocked to see me do damage after six years of being bullied that all who were present, including the girl with the bloody nose, verified that she started it, I looked for a teacher, and tried to keep distance between us until I got backed into a corner and broke her nose. Didn't work out too well for her parents when they tried to sue mine.

Thats the annoying thing isnt it. They try and sue you because you defended yourself. I always was outnumbered at least 4 to 1 and now most people just talk shit about me behind my back because after they saw me get a 2x6 smashed over my head and me keep fighting they are to scared of me. They get there friends to block there numbers and call me with death threats though...

Ha yes. In High school I reached 250lbs and 6'2" but people still try even three years later now that I work out and perform hard physical activity all day. Its rather amusing.

The problem is that schools don't want lawsuits, and they don't want another Columbine, so they make the worse policy decision based on fear.
