I don't know. My mom took me to them when I was like 5 or something.

Nat: Night's always in some bizarre state somewhere between "intoxicated enough to kill a hair metal lead singer" and "annoying Mormon missionary sober".
Swith: It's because you're so awesome. God himself refreshes the screen before he types just to see if Nightkill has written anything while he was off somewhere else.

No....you're not like me because I don't have a lit sparkler hanging outta my ass. Go back to your job and enjoy your lifestyle without blocking/rerouting traffic while I'm attempting to cross town.
Same goes for the Irish on St Patty's Day.

It's not like that's because it's a gay parade, but because it's a gay parade. Parades are supposed to be festive.
Also, being gay isn't a "lifestyle". A gay person can live any lifestyle: goth, furry, indie musician, fast life, drug life, thug life, rock life every night. All of the lights.
...okay, I think I got sidetracked.

Homosexuality is as much a lifestyle as is one's favorite soda.

Bullshit.
Saying "fag" around someone who considers you his best friend and then using "gay" as a putdown when the person who's hearing the words is gay is at the very least insensitive and at worst downright bigoted.
I've called out friends who've used those words and have had said friends tell me to drop it. I'm sure I've killed or at least weakened one or two friendships or stunted the growth of one or two potential friendships because I refuse to drop it or let it go.
Buffy, I'd suggest you have a serious conversation with your "friend" where you make it clear what your feelings are about his use of those words. If he refuses to stop, then you really do need to reconsider whether or not he deserves to call you his friend.

I'll give an example. One person whom I met about two years ago I'd learned after we became Facebook friends was very heavily into Christian ministry and the like. I'll admit to doing some profiling, so I was nervous about ever bringing up the subject of my sexual orientation around him, or even mentioning the word "gay" around him in any context.
A few months after we first met, the subject of the then-current Twilight movie New Moon came up. He recommended I go see the movie, not knowing that I watch movies about as often as the U.S. has a presidential election. What I thought hilarious was the reason he recommended the movie. Bear in mind that I took pains to not bring up my sexual orientation around him. He recommended I go see the movie because Taylor Lautner spent "half the movie with his shirt off." As soon as he said that, I knew he knew and that he was cool with it.
When I came out to my father and his partner, the last question Dad #1 asked me (the "acid test question") was, "do you like Bette Midler."
