LOL. I love your logic, but honestly, being at Final Fantasy 625492 at present, can you honestly come to the conclusion that every game after 2 is bad? I personally find the original Final Fantasy too frustrating to be enjoyable. I like the Tactics advance series, because I guess I happen to be a portable, mobile kind of person, and it fulfills all of my RPG expectations.

I disagree. Simcity 4 was and still is epic. Downloading new buildings and mods to create Toronto/New York style cities, and then destroying it with volcanoes and meteors.

I don't know. I got bored with 3 and 4. But I could put in 2000 anytime and waste hours upon hours on it.

The 2010 MoH reboot (tiny campaign, buggy, crappy textures, bad AI and a completely bullshit and revisionist version of events, not to mention the clichés and bad story telling), COD Black Ops (buggy, bad choice of voice actor, the weapons and the COD 6 rip offs) and Soldier of Fortune 3 (pretty much everything bar the graphics).

With these games it's not so much protesting that they were made as much as protesting about how they were made. For example, with the MoH reboot, I could stand the extremely short campaign, bugs, bad AI and crappy textures if they'd had a decent story. They didn't. Everything from claiming that the US took Bagram (The British SBS did that) to not showing what really happened at Shah-i-Kot (US soldiers fired on a SEAL team, forcing the SEALs to withdraw and leave the ridge wide open, the Americans knew about the DShK in advance and destroyed it, an Australian SAS team situated above the snowline called in airstrikes to protect the downed Rangers (and were rewarded by their commander getting the Bronze star)), not to mention the clichés (the cavalry arriving in the nick of time, the incompetent commander who has no knowledge of the front, SF team who knows true size of the enemy, etc).

With Black Ops, my main objections are the way, way out of place weapons (many of which weren't even designed, let alone built for several years after the end of the game) and the MW2 ripoffs. For instance, the motorbike ride with the Model 1887 shotgun, the minigun and the sacrificing of plot for action (although, I'll admit, there were many parts of the story that I did like). Oh, and casting an Australian actor as an American. Some can do it, but, in my opinion, Sam Worthington isn't one of them.

SoF 3. How can I say anything good about it? Well, for one, the graphics were actually pretty decent. And...well, yeah, that's all. It did have potential, and it could have told a dark, emotional story that looked at mercenaries/PMCs in their modern context from their point of view. Instead, you got buggy rubbish with a tiny campaign, terrible story and a dismemberment system worse than the original.

Also, all your complaints are viable for every single game in CoD save COD2 and COD1, the only good games in the COD series.

CoD 4 wasn't perfect, but it was better than any of the CoD games after it. It had a reasonable story, although not perfect nor Oscar winning, as you put it, kept more or less within the bounds of reality and had okay graphics (not Crysis, but still not bad). WaW could have been much better, but at least they touched on the brutality of WWII, and CoD 6 had no redeeming qualities barring the music (hence why I didn't include it on my list, since I was talking about games that shouldn't have been made how they were).

The only MoH I've played was the reboot, so I can't judge the others, but it did have potential. It could have looked at Afghanistan from a soldier's perspective, looked at the effects of the war on the soldier, as well as showing both the good and the bad that came from the Americans. Instead, it was a crappy CoD rip off.

SoF II wasn't too bad, in my opinion. Plot wise it's better than MW2, graphically it's better than the original CoD and the multiplayer's fun. It also has the potential to tell a really interesting story, using a combination of over the top gore and good story telling, but SoF 3, unfortunately, was handed over to Cauldron and we got a game so far below sub par that it's not funny.

As for my personal choice, I would have to say World of Warcraft, simply because ever since WoW success, every other MMORPG company has been trying to cash in on the success with WoW clones, and the MMORPG market has become over saturated with WoW Clones. However, I think the WoW Clones are starting to die off, which is good.

I've never understood this.

Look, there's lots of shit wrong with WoW, and I'm annoyed with the clones as much as anybody, but WoW is one of the best things to happen to gaming in my lifetime. Why? Because it's the game that got people who don't play videogames to start playing videogames. It's widely popular with groups who, in the past, were pushed out of the gaming community, like older players and female players. That's a good thing. That's something the industry should learn from.

WoW also is the game that "teaches" people to play RPGs nowadays. There's a reason why everyone copies the WoW UI, and it's not because the WoW UI is so damn brilliant...it's because everyone, including the people who rag on WoW, has played with the WoW UI. Half the people who play RPGs at this point probably learned on the WoW UI.

There SHOULD be attempts to 'clone' the success of WoW, it's just that for some reason most companies don't seem to get what the successful parts of WoW really are. They're focused on cloning the fantasy elements, or the graphical look of the game, or the grindy nature of the content, which is totally off base.

Anyhow, to answer the OP question directly, the only games that I think shouldn't be made are the ones that get made just because a big-name movie is coming out and they want to try to cash in further. Those games go almost directly into landfills, which is bad for the environment.
