That's assuming the American system where years 7-8 (9?) are called Middle School not HS. Most other countries consider that High school, so a HS-er could be 12 or even 11.

I don't think kids are still allowed to enter school as young as I did. I graduated year 12 still being 16, so I would have been TEN in my first month at HS.
