They like to pretend the Leftist Cabal^TM is in control of everything, but Enlightened Centrism and its corollary right-libertarianism are insanely popular among young people in the aforementioned countries. Being one is the most conformist you could possibly be politically.

If that were true, libertarian parties would do much better than they are doing. Granted, liberalism and freedom and capitalism are fairly popular in the west, but that doesn't necessarily translate to libertarianism being popular.
