I mostly remember the Umayyads as being the second Islamic caliphate that got defeated by the Abbasids and went "You know what!? I will flee to Spain and create my own caliphate, with chess and harems!".

And thus my ancestors might have a tint of Muslim blood.

Umayyads got into power by trickery (almost literally. Amru ibn As tricked Abu Musa A'shari in the parley after The Saffayn, into giving his overlord (Mu'awiyye) the Caliphate) and then kept that power by murdering opposition and oppressing The Ajam... though then again, the same can be said about The First Caliphate and The Abassid Caliphate too...

I could barely get myself to attend my communion/confirmation courses (it's less of a religious duty and more of a tradition in my family to do your communion and confirmation), let alone pray five times a day.

As far as I know, the usage of 'ta marbuta' (ة‎) at the end of a word also indicates that the word (in many instances but not all, if I check it in wiktionary) has a female gender. It also used to turn words with masculine gender into feminine ones, if I learnt it correctly at school.

I don't see how claiming anyone Muslim can be Imam is dumb. The Khawarij had good points which changed mainstream Sunni Islam.

It's not actually. Nowhere is it said that an imam should be explicitly from the tribe of Muhammed saws or an Arab for that matter.

One prayer just takes around three to four minutes, it's not that much. It's the time of an Youtube video.
