Honestly I think Trump is only getting so much of the vote is because of the two party system making things so partisan. Without that Trump would really not stand a chance.

Picking a fight with social media companies, just before attempting to get re-elected, when they played a key role in getting you elected in the first place, seems monumentally dumb. But then having just watched some of the Axios interview, Trump certainly is that thick.

Maybe the debates itself are a problem? At least here, the motion of presidential debates are controlled by a strict moderating system sanctioned by the electoral comission, with debate topics set by a group of really smart-looking professors and academic authorities who sit on the front seat during said debates. Really forces you to know what you're talking about. Instead, you got 2016 Trump.

I'm pretty certain Trump could nuclear bomb several US cities and his approval rating would remain between 35 and 40%.

Partisanship is not a direct function of the political parties in themselves, considering we've gotten along fine for literal centuries with the two-party system more along ideological divides.

No, the political parties playing into partisan divides is a symptom of a larger issue, not the cause of it.

In that Axios interview Trump did, he claimed he didn't talk to Putin about the bounties on American troops, but he didn't because "it didn't end up on my desk." He then claimed to read and fully comprehend his briefings despite that being a concern inside of one of his briefings.
