Well, the Big Bang is a theory as of now.

It's pretty much what we're using until further evidence is discovered.

Ask like any damn astrophysicist and they'll tell you that until they find further evidence for something else, they'll use the Big Bang THEORY.

Though, they have been finding evidence of the Big Bang across the cosmos, but it is not as verifiable as say, evolution's evidence.

I am no atheist, and I can assure you that banning atheism completely is a step back in the progress the world has made, let alone the US (If that's what you're referring to). Everyone has the equal right to believe what they want, and if they simply don't believe in anything, then they still believe in not believing. That's just common knowledge.
