This is like PRC's reaction to the Japanese intentions to release processed water from the Fukushima NPP into the Pacific, which mind you was to almost declare war.

I highly doubt Japan is the type to poison athletes. And there would be no tactfulness in doing so during the Olympic Games when they are the host nation, since it would be easily traced back to them. Additionally, if they were sabotaging foreign athletes, which they are not, I imagine the medal count for countries like the United States and China would be far lower than they currently are, since athletes would have to drop out due to radiation poisoning.

It's a court decision that justifies the risk of importing Fukushima food. Fukushima food is being distributed to the Olympic village, so, obviously, there's relevance. Maybe, you just want to deny the truth, calling it groundless, meaningless, while your own tenuous allegations are perhaps meaningless.

So, it's a risk when teams like America are taking in food from Japan, which come from Fukushima. And it's certainly not a sin to get your own packaged food from your own nation, instead of taking in the local Fukushima ones from Japan, because Japan did the same back in 2018 in Pyeongchang.

Laurel Hubbard failed to advance to the final in the 87+ kg women's weightlifting category.

The fact that she did not advance probably won't shut up the TERFs and misogynists who don't think that trans women are women or that trans women have an inherent advantage in athletics over cis women, but she has made history.

I don't know how true it is, but some people have said that Hubbard didn't just fail but was uncharacteristically bad in order to get people to say exactly what you just said. It would have been worse for Trans politics if Hubbard had confirmed the Randy Savage meme.

But that's the thing... she wasn't uncharacteristically bad: this wasn't even the second time she'd done this in a major competition, it was the third time in eleven.

Also, wtf, she's Dick Hubbard's daughter. How is that not more widely known?

Boxer Nesthy Petecio lost the finals in the women's featherweight category today. She has won a silver medal! Two medals babyyy.

Boxer Carlo Paalam also won his quarterfinal match in the men's flyweight today. Even if he loses his semifinal bout he still comes home with a bronze. This means we're assured of winning FOUR Olympic medals, the highest Olympic medal haul in our history ever.

Tonight, EJ Obiena competes in the men's pole vault finals. If he wins at least a bronze we come home with five medals.

EDIT: Forgot to add, we actually have two more athletes who are yet to compete - Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagdanganan, who are both competing in the women's individual golf event, which will begin tomorrow and continue until the 7th. Saso and Pagdanganan both made it to the event after the qualifying round back in June, placing eighth and 43rd, respectively.
