by any rational definition of a continent, there are no separate asian and european continents. continents are not surrounded by imaginary invisible lines. they are surrounded and separated from each other by contiguous bodies of water.

When I speak of Asia, I generally use the definition of Eurasia east of the Urals and the Dardanelles.

When speaking of Asians, I generally mean either people from there, or East/Southeast/Northeast/Central Asians.

Pakistan isn't in the Middle East.

Pretty much the entire Asian continent, minus Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan feel like the definition of Asia to me. The listed exceptions are due to those basins being more closely economically and socially linked with Europe than Asia.

I'm pretty sure the entire Middle East has more to do with Europe than East Asia...

Maybe drawing the line at India would be more useful

I define Asia as the Continentas defined on page one of this thread. Asians = people who live there + people whose recent ancestors lived there.

That ain't how BBC defines Asians. When an Arab, Afghan or Chinaman does something, BBC will say that, but when BBC news says Asian youths did something, they always mean Indian.

Asian is "people, places and things of asia". with asia being a continent.

when I use Asian to refer to people I most often mean east Asian--china, korea, japan, and the countries of southeast asia (but not Indonesia Malaysia or Singapore). the rest are south Asians, central Asians, middle easterners, siberians, etc.

Any country located in the continent of Asia is, well, Asian. But I wouldn't call all of the people in those countries Asians even though they are. It'd be more race oriented, like Indian or Arab if they weren't something like Chinese or Japanese.
