Considering the suicide rate in South Korea, I'm not at all surprised that it's no. 152.

politicians will say almost anything. after all, america claims to be the most moral and most free, neither of which it comes close to being either.

happiest might be someplace like the maldives and most free might be someplace like sweeden. morality might be in how one defines it. maybe canada or new zealand. hard to say.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

"economic freedom" is "the cake"

This business about China being the happiest country in the world and North Korea being second is all Communist propaganda. The state-controlled media released it.

I'm convinced that some North Koreans are the second happiest people in the world.....the government officials and quite likely nobody else.

Pgg. The capitalist propaganda just got to you. You aren't happy, the state made you think you're happy so they can make you sad and sell your tears. Think about that!

So it's done by the Chinese media and it puts China first and their allies near the top and their rivals at the bottom. Yeah that puts Fox News into perspective.

Iran certainly hasn't been a happy place ("WHERE IS MY VOTE?") in the last two years. Venezuala is alright though. In a more accurate poll, it was actually rated one of the top 10 happiest countries. But I wouldn't trust any poll that was done in North Korea. And since China is doing pretty well, I wouldn't be surprised if citizens are happy right now, but first place is unrealistic.

I read the book "Nothing to Envy", a story of life in the DPRK, told by several escapees from it. People living there aren't in a state of euphoria. One said something like "We knew our life was hard but we assumed it was like that in other countries. And after seeing in the cinema what life was supposedly like in the US puppet state South Korea, we concluded that we were actually pretty lucky and our leader was doing a good job."

You're not totally correct there. Chaoxian.com.cn is a North Korean website with Chinese translation. Not a "real" chinese news source. Most of the content on that site concerns North Korea, not China.
Anyone with knowledge of Chinese can see it.

ED: One more point. Just because a webpage displays Chinese characters does not mean its China. This particular site's name reads "Korean China Web" and the URL translates as "North Korea.com.cn". It is probably created by North koreans for propaganda purposes. Not a real China site.
