Not that they don't work, it's just they haven't been implemented properly or have been put to an extreme.

Even if you implement communism perfectly, it will never work. It is contrary to human nature.

What I more mean is that aspects of these systems work, yet having a system fully or extremely one system, tends to fail.

Moved exactly 2 to the right from last time, which was only a few months ago.

Soheran wrote:The test is not a straightforward test of policy stances; it actually measures attitudes

Based on simple responses to not as simple questions? That kind of approach wouldn't even take into account if someone could misunderstand the more vague questions (such as "waste of time to rehabilitate some criminals"; do they mean that some can't be rehabilitated or that you can't rehabilitate them, not even some of them?) let alone would it take into account why people answered the way they did.

Soheran wrote:So the validity of the question would depend on how much people morally opposed to sex outside of marriage have broadly socially conservative political views.

Even then it's simplistic, since sexual issues are put on the same axis as issues like war. Taking into account "economic permissive vs. social permissive" still doesn't take into account the difference between "authoritarian" in the "warmonger" sense and "authoritarian" views on cultural traditionalism, which aren't necessarily tied. Like with Christopher Hitchens and Pope John Paul, it wouldn't make sense for their disagreement on religion to "cancel out" their disagreement on the Iraq War on the social libertarian/authoritarian axis.

Frankly I don't really buy into ideology labels in the first place. I think more of my opinions could be labelled liberal than for most other ideologies I've heard of, but my views on some subjects might make me sound like a neocon. o.o

Soheran wrote:Edit: Despite the philosophical break, I think the correlation is pretty strong.

Based on what, though?

I'm just barely in the upper right hand corner for the political compass test.

Economic Left/Right= .50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian= .56

For grins, I tried the okCupid test as well and got Social Moderate (43% Permissive) and Economic Conservative (66% Permissive), with an overall result of "Centrist". Looking at the map, I'm hovering in that intersection between Republican, Capitalist, and Centrist.

Pretty similar to what I consider myself as. As for the debate on whether people can be grouped together under labels, I believe they can so long as people take into consideration that they are generalisations and being part of one group does not mean you fully support all of their ideas.

That's around the same spot as the current Dalai Lama.

EDIT: The okcupid test puts me at 68% socially permissive and 20% economically permissive, which is right on the democrat/socialist border.

What I realize(and so should you)is that an Internet test of dubious provenance using ambigous questions should not be taken seriously.

Besides, I'm an American, it's well known we have no grasp of irony.

Hitler was an incredible leader, just a bit screwed up in the head when it came to the Jews. I don't have that problem in the least bit, strong supporter of the nation of Israel.

And, for that matter, when it came to the Gypsies, Slavs, Homosexuals, Communists, Anarchists, Political Opponents, and any and every other type of 'undesirable'. He was also a pretty cruddy leader when it came to running a war -- he had no idea about the somewhat radical concepts of 'letting your generals do their job', or of 'not attacking more people than you can beat at once'.

He was an incredible military strategist until syphilis degraded his judgment. Hell, I personally think military service should be compulsory for the office of President or any other like national leader.

Social Liberal (65% permissive), Economic Liberal (10% permissive).
Economic Left/Right: -8.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.87 .

Basically, test results from both of the tests tell me I should be denouncing America and capitalism during my sleep. :P And Hitler was an evil bastard, and I wish the Soviets had captured him and locked up in a cage. If he hadn't be overthrown by the combined forces of the US, UK and USSR, society would have been fucked for quite a while...
