Not quite sure what this means. Isn't the usual complaint that the US is spending too much money? We do just as much with our money as anyone else.

Our economy is recovering, albeit at a slower rate than anyone would like. All the things Shnercropolis listed are helping greatly.
As to the debt...well, either we'll get the political will to do something about it as our current obligations stand, or we'll have a bunch of gigantic unpopular cutbacks. The government will never, ever admit bankruptcy, as every single incumbent would be voted out, regarldess of party.
At least we're better off than Greece: we actually CAN undo the debt ourselves, if we wanted to. Greece has much less debt, but absolutely no way out beyond foreign aid.
