Civil unions (The legal rights of Marriage) should not be denied to anybody, seeing as they are Federal/State guarantees. Churches do not recognize civil unions anyhow, so it is a win win for all. Marriage should remain between Man and Woman, and Civil unions should be allowed for Homosexual couples, to give them the benefits of Marriage on the Legal scale.

Personally, I am struggling to accept Gays and the like as it is. I do not understand the lifestyle, but I understand politics. The American politics (I am an American) are flawed, for they think that arguing and forcing things upon people is the way to dictate law. This of course brews anger, frustration, and conflict. In order to appease both sides partially, Civil Unions are the only option. It makes sense to try to give each party their small portion of "Justice". If things continue like this, Mass chaos will ensue, and bring the nation further down the slope till she's too weak to even stand on her knees. Slavery was never reinstated, because the World did not approve of it. The world operates on functionality, and with the new influx of immigrants, as well as former slaves, Slavery existed in the form of WAGE SLAVES. Nothing has really changed. If you have immigrant grandparents and the like who are still alive and were factory workers etc, talk with them, the same goes on in the coal mines of West Virginia.
