Still less invasive and damaging for the environment than mining for coal and gas and oil, plus when kesterite solar cells become commercially viable they will be made with much smaller amounts of rare earth metals - or even none at all - with most of the metals used commonly available in the UK.Because you need to mine all the rare earth metals for those fancy new solar panels from somewhere.
