They were ovens, not furnaces, and people would probably not understand the reference. Now, wearing something that says "Arbeit Macht Frei" to a synagogue is certainly in bad taste.

Again, there is an argument that when it says 6 days it does not mean 6-24 hour periods but rather a biblical day... which is skeptical.
