New Update, With Colour Now.

You'll recognize this one as an old sketch one of my favourites. But I coloured it.

Very nice, as always. I like the choice of colors. Very vibrant without being tacky.

we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

Not in the picture, no.

Would it help if I said it was a portrait of a woman from behind her with her head turned counter-clockwise to the artist.

A bit of a personal challenge, here is a portrait drawn with only one colour and black.

It's only a rough work.

Some new sketches. Including one rather interesting attempt at surrealism.
Image

My first strange step into surrealism.

Image

Well, not quite. But I was starting with the idea of a Hetalia style anime in my national character, but it went civilian instead.

What he's fretting about I don't know. Originally I was going to have something else on this picture, and I might eventually pull through with that.

Image

I was placed in a rather uncomfortable scenario of my cousin and her boyfriend falling asleep right beside me during a family get-together, not having anything better to do, I decided to draw them.

Yeah. I've got a couple freaked out by it.

Surrealism does that to you though. Salvador Dali gives me the willies ever time I see his work.

Ok. This is was a self-imposed challenge, I hate portraits, never do them, because I never get them right. So I tried one this week, of one of my favourite actresses. One Miss Ingrid Bergman of Casablanca fame.

ImageImage

So I know two things. One is that I put her eyes to high on her forehead, that's rather obvious, and it's one I do with all of my work so I'm not too upset, also the hair doesn't match perfectly, but I can live with that... What do you think?

That is perfect. Though, I think that the forehead is actually smaller, maybe that's why her eyes is high by comparison. You also need to work on the shape of the hair, but that is difficult to do imo. Other than that, gorgeous.

Any chance you're going to touch it up with PS or something? Seems like you could do with digital art.

I probably will, yes.

You're right, I reexamined it and it's the forehead that's too small not the eyes too high, I think that will be easier to fix. The hair was a necessary deviation, I was never going to get the picture finished if I obsessed over the hair.
