I read 1984 a month back, and it was good.

I'm not reading a book, but I am fulfilling a sketchbook

Just finished listening to The Graveyard Book (Neil Gaiman is a meanie because he made me cry). Now, seeing as it's the 1st of May, I figured today was very nearly the perfect time of year to start reading A Christmas Carol.

Degenerate Art: The Fate of Avant-Garde in Nazi Germany. Though it wasn't intentionally funny I laughed for minutes on end when I read Himmler's thoughts on Nazi art and official SS propaganda could be summed up with "NO HOMO".

I just finished 1984. I'm too disturbed to start another book for a little while.

BTW, is 1984 going through a huge revival right now? I feel like everyone is reading. Just with a quick scroll I saw like 2-3 people on this page say they were or are reading that too.

Currently: Deliverance by James Dickey. I hadn't known the movie was an adaptation of a book.

Previously read: Pastoralia by George Saunders.

Up next: American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Time to re-read it before getting caught up on the show.

Recently finished The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein in just two days. It's a beautifully moving story about the relationship between a dog named Enzo and his master Denny, told completely from the witty and often philosophical perspective of the former. Needless to say, by page 8 my eyes were already watering (I rarely cry over a book, but this one was a real tear-jerker because, animals). I loved it, every page of it.

I've just started listening to The Handmaid's Tale.

I am currently re-re-re-re-re-rereading 1984, my favorite novel, by George Orwell, my favorite author.

In addition, I am also reading Animal Farm by George Orwell, Closing of the Western Mind by Charles Freeman, The Pearl by John Steinbeck, and Peloponisian War by Donald Kagan.

After I finish said books, I plan on reading On Tyranny, Elizabeth the Queen, re-read Of Mice and Men, and re-re-read To Kill a Monkingbird.

Have you read Homage to Catalonia? It's a great book of Orwell's about his experiences in the Spanish Civil War. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.
