Conquest of Mexico Vol II by William Prescott, the 1873 edition as edited by John Foster Kirk.

Due to the footnotes being all in the original languages, primarily Spanish, Latin, and German, I find it a bit slow going since my familiarity with those languages is not good. However, it is interesting to read a history of the period which treats Cortes and his men as bringing civilization to the benighted natives. Prescott's view of them makes Kipling look like an apologist.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman - it's...interesting. Not entirely sure I like it as a whole, but the concept is different and engaging, so I'm getting through it.

Great book. I would absolutely recommend it. It's very anti-war if that interests you and is quite intense in some aspects from what I remember. It's, overall, a fantastic read.

Latin Literature in Translation by Guinagh and Dorjahn.

Specifically, I read through their selections from Lucretius's On The Nature of Things, Tacitus's Germania, I'm skipping around; might read Martial next.

Great book. Loosely based on a real person. The TV series is also excellent.
