The Darth Bane books are some of my favorite from the EU. I've been meaning to re-read them myself with all this newfound free time, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

The War of the Worlds. I picked up a copy of The Death of Grass at an antique store thinking it would be more Geoffrey Housholder than what it is, a cross between Lord of the Flies and War of the Worlds, then realized I had never read the latter even though I had read The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Time Machine, Tono-Bungay, Mind at the End of its Tether and a short story collection. One of my favorite passages in English literature is the heat death of the solar system described in TIme Machine. It comforts me somehow.
